Ford is one of the oldest auto company in the world.  The first car in the world was invented by Henry Ford, the Founder and first CEO of the company. Unfortunately, many people choose to boycott Ford because of its anti-Semitic past. Henry Ford’s anti-Semitic views echoed the fears and assumptions of many Americans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Anti-Semitism in America saw an influx in expression and virulence when increased immigration from Europe brought millions of Jews to the U.S. during Ford’s upbringing. During a camping trip in 1919, Henry Ford lectured a group of friends around the campfire about the Jewish threat. He “attributes all evil to Jews or to the Jewish capitalists”. According to him, “The Jews caused the war, the Jews caused the outbreak of thieving and robbery all over the country, the Jews caused the inefficiency of the navy…”

4. Toyota

The world’s leading automaker in sales held the crown in 2013 while showing no signs of slowing down its pace of innovation. From fuel-cell vehicles to redesigned compact cars and its popular Prius hybrid line, Toyota remained on auto consumers’ minds throughout 2013. Besides the obvious appeal of cars like the Camry (2013′s top-selling car in the U.S.) and Corolla, online surveys were almost equally interested in the Tundra and Tacoma trucks. It thereby arrives at No. 4 on the list of top 10 best automakers for 2014.

In February 2014 it was determined that  Toyota occupied one of 4 top spots in Consumer Reports’ annual Car-Brand Perception Survey. The tabulated scores in the survey reflect how consumers perceive the brand in seven categories: quality, safety, performance, value, fuel economy, design/style, and technology/innovation.

2. Skoda

It’s finally happened – Skoda has finally made it to no. 2 on this top 10 popular car companies of 2014 list. So what went wrong in 2013? Well, the short answer is: nothing. Owners certainly aren’t complaining about their cars – Skoda has by far the most consistent scorecard, and is the only brand that managed to finish in the top 10 in every category. It picked up gold medals for running costs and practicality, a silver medal for in-car tech and bronzes for ease of driving and braking. Its worst score was eighth place for handling. On top of that, the Yeti and Superb took first and second place in our Top 100 last week, so Skoda’s performance in Driver Power 2013 was just as phenomenal as in previous years. The only thing that’s changed is that another brand managed to go one better…

1. Ferrari
